Getting the most out of your bridal show experience

Embarking on your journey to planning your big wedding day. Where do you start?

Congratulations! You have become engaged and now you will embark on the road to planning your wedding.
Where do you start?

The natural place to start is purchasing all the wedding magazines you can possibly find. They are filled with lovely photos of gowns, advertisements and sometimes a few helpful articles. You have shared them with all your friends, co-worker’s and fiancé, but now what?

Sure, you may be getting a few ideas on things you’d like to see at your wedding, but how’s that working for you? Ideas are just that, ideas. You need to hit the road running and you need help.

Those lovely photos of fairytale brides are not jumping off the page and into the room where you are sitting to help you figure out where to start. I mean seriously, you have to figure out your long list of vendors, find them or get recommendations from others, make a ton of phone calls to set up appointments to see there work or sample their foods & cakes, leave messages, return calls, try to squeeze this all into your work week and by the time the weekend comes you are exhausted and haven’t accomplished much. Frustration is setting in and planning seems like a hard work instead of the ringing of wedding bells. You are now not having fun.

Well, I have the answer on where to start….attend a bridal show. They are fun, they provide all the vendors you would need to plan your entire wedding, and most of all you drive to only one place. Vendors will be there waiting to speak to you and show you samples of their work.

Bridal show producers elect local professional wedding vendors to accommodate YOU! You take one afternoon attending a bridal show and at the end of the day, you could personally met with 30+ vendors and hopefully have made appointments or have hired a few. Because they will be gathered all under one roof – for YOU. Great discounts can be offered for show day only. Take advantage of those savings.

You can expect to meet with hotels & other venues for your reception. If the show is held in a hotel, ask for a tour of the facility. Photographers, DJ’s, Florists, Limos, Cake Designers, Gown Shops, will also be there. Don’t be shy, ask lots of questions.

This will give you the opportunity to meet face to face, interview the vendor, see their work, taste their samples and walk away with more than an idea. Most vendors will have great discounts on show day and also would be glad to set up a one-on-one appointment.

Fashion shows are great fun. By all means, go see them. When you see the gowns you like, imagine yourself in it. Walking down the aisle, taking lots of photos in it, and dancing away at your reception. If there are a few you are interested in, go to the gown vendor’s booth and make an appointment for a personal fitting.

You will have lots of fun throughout the day with many chances to win door prizes. Who doesn’t like to win free stuff? Registration usually enters you into the grand prize drawing, vendors have drawings of their own, and throughout the day the bridal show producer gives away great prizes. Even a honeymoon!

So, doesn’t that sound like one afternoon of getting lots of details checked off your “where do I start” list???
