Well, the Nascar season has finally came to a close. With new teams and dominating performances, it was a great year all in all. So first I will start out with my thoughts on Jimmie Johnson.
Jimmie Johnson has done an absolutely fantastic job. At the beginning of the season he had only one win (I can't remember win) and didn't look like he was a threat to contend for the championship. I knew he would make the chase but I didn't think that he would win the championship. But with the work of Jimmie and Chad Knaus you can't really put them out, you always have to "worry" about them. With a lot of work and effort they came back and beat the odds and won the battle with Carl Edwards, winning it all. Congratulations Jimmie on a nice job.
Now on to Carl. Carl did a heck of a lot better than I thought he would. From the start of the season when he got about his third win, I was pulling for him and Jr. Because at this point I was getting tired of Kyle. So he started coming back and by his fifth win, I knew he had a great shot at it. And by the time Kyle had troubles with the first two chase races, I'm sure everybody and me thought Carl was either the number 1 or the number 2 pick to win it. But Jimmie Johnson and Greg Biffle were right there with him and with the wreck at Dega, alot of the chances were ruined for Biffle but Edwards kept on pushing for it. I am not going to say he was unsuccessful because he was successful even though he didn't come home with the trophy.
Now to my driver, Dale had a great first season with Hendrick Motorsports and I think that this year pulls a lot of pressure off of his shoulders now. I personally think that this move for Jr. was the best move of the year (maybe besides Tony getting away from Toyota). He was able to get a win and make the chase. Plus staying in second for all those races behind Kyle, that was enough for me to prove that he was doing so much better. I think that if he was still with DEI, that he would be no where close to where he was this season. Even though he doesn't get to go to New York, all of Jr Nation should still be happy that he had a great year, even with 1 win. Congrats to Jr on a great move.
Now to the season in general, I liked all of the back and forth racing that seemed to be going on at points where Kyle seemed to disappear. What I mean is how Greg had the lead, then Carl, then Jimmie. Then it got real exciting at the end. But what I really want to say is congrats to all the winners this season. And a special congrats to Ryan Newman and Penske racing for getting his first restrictor plate win and the Daytona 500. Very good race.
