Gardening is fun, brings joy, and relieves stress. It brings you a better quality of life, and makes your home more beautiful. When planning a garden, stop and think of what type of garden you may want to have. Would you like to have a flower garden, herbs, vegetable, or cacti garden? It’s important to picks plants that are compatible in the same plot. See that the requirements of soil and water are close in need or are alike.
When planning a garden, it’s important to know if plants are compatible with the climate you live in. You can find this out by looking at whether statistics of where you live. Statistical data can be found in the library, your local plant nursery, or online.
After you have checked out the climate and decided what type of garden you want to have, you need to find out what types of plants will grow well in your garden. Think of the duration of the growing season that the plants will survive for the changes in temperature that will occur.
Another issue to consider when planting your garden is how much shade will these particular plants need. You need to be sure that there will be plenty of light in the areas of your garden location. After you have finished with planning your garden, you now begin to plan the plots. Again, keep in mind that the garden should bring you happiness and joy, will be easy to keep, and at the same time properly use the space you have available.
Place plants that require a lot of sunlight in one area of the garden. Such plants should be kept away from tall trees and buildings, because trees and buildings block the light. Deciding which plants should grow near the house or building, or plants that belong out in the open should be thought about. It’s best not to have trees or bushes near the house, because they tend to block the sunlight.
The best area for growing herbs is near the house, if that is what you have decided to plant. Planning them near the house is ideal if your are going to be using them for cooking, this is convenient. Also think about the location of vegetables, if you are going to plant vegetables, they need a certain amount of sunlight.
Take into account what you personally prefer when you begin designing the type of garden you want. Sometimes there may be extras you would like to have, for example if you have a gazebo, or a winding pathway, keep them in mind in your design to work in these extras. Your garden ideas are only limited by your creativity and your location’s growing season.
