Sometimes water is safe to drink and sometimes it is not when you go aboard. You should check before you go as sometimes locals will be confused if they drink. Sometimes they do say that it is safe to drink although consuming around 2 litres pay day may land you with an upset stomach due to the high mineral content in it so buying bottled water should do you fine.
When you are looking for accommodation for your self-packaged holiday you should check how many the accommodation sleeps. This will be both a maximum number and a comfortable number. It is no good trying to squeeze extra people in if they are going to be uncomfortable on their holidays; this will only ruin it for them.
If you have rented a villa and you are really pleased with your holiday, ask the person who you rented it off if there is any referral scheme. This will involve you getting a percentage off your next years holiday in return for family and friends booking up in that villa or one of their villas. This may not be much but it could pay for a nice meal out for you and your family.
Make sure you set the budget for your accommodation before you start looking. Once you have set your budget it is important that you dont go over this, there is always a more luxurious, expensive option, once you have set your budget stick to it. Outside of peak times, you may be able to negotiate with the owner or agent for a reduced rental price, even if it is only 25 off, you can also ask for transfers, free air conditioning, reduced rate into local attractions, do remember that the owner/agent will have overheads and the price will be set accordingly.
Check to see what activities are available before you go. You should check information out such as cost, time to get there, what age you have to be any restrictions and then plan around it. It may be worth planning these before you go, for example going to a water park.
You should also protect yourself from mosquitoes in the evening time. Sometimes you cant see them and often just feel an itch after it has bitten from you. You can protect yourself from mosquitos with a range of lotions and potions available on the high street you should also check with your local chemist. If you are affected while on holiday you should take a trip to the chemist where they should be able to give you something to stop the swelling or itching.
