When buying a new appliance there are lots of factors which can influence your decision. Brand, price, colour, size, style…the list is endless. There are certain things which may be set in stone for example if you know you want a Bosch freezer then often nothing else will do or if your budget has been set at £400 then you probably won’t spend much over. One area which there may be room for movement is size.

You may already have an allocated area where you want your freezer to go, and if it is built in – integrated or built under then it may be more difficult to have the freedom to play around. But if you have some extra space to have a taller freezer or even chest freezer then it would be well worth considering one of these options.

A larger freezer can be a really good investment, especially if you have a big family. Not only do you have more storage space inside the appliance but it allows you to be more organised with your shopping. A larger storage space means that you will be able to store your leftovers in the freezer, so there is no need to throw them away. You can make extra meals, lunches and soups from leftover foods so often freezing is an ideal way to make your money go further. In today’s current climate we need to save as much as possible, not only for financial reasons but wasting food has a negative impact on the environment. Therefore, a chest freezer may be just what you are looking for to give you that extra storage space.

Don’t think that just because your freezer is large it will cost you more to buy. Chest freezers are priced around the same as upright freezers so if price is a concern just remember that chest freezers are still an option. For example the Whirlpool AFG6216-B chest freezer is a great model. It is a great size for those who want a chest freezer but do not have lots of extra space for it. For a little more you will find models such as the Indesit OFNAA305 chest freezer. This model is really great for several reasons, the first being value for money, secondly for the amount you will fit inside it – a lot more than your average freezer!

Of course, not only chest freezers give you more room. If you have a freestanding freezer which is the same height as your washing machine you may be able to buy a taller freezer to fit where the old appliance was. Taller freezers not only look great but are reasonability priced and available from a large choice of brands. Upright tall freezers have some clever features such as fast freeze which makes sure food just added is frozen quicker to make sure the temperature does not fall in the appliance. Look out for freezers with a great number of compartments making storage more organised and allowing you to fit more into the appliance.

Larger freezers are a great buy, nowadays a small freezer just doesn’t seem to be able to hold the weekly shop which means more trips to the supermarket! So for a great time and money saver if you are considering buying a new freezer be sure to see if your kitchen will allow for a bigger model.
